Bach Chorale and the West Lafayette Public Library Present:
32 Short Films about Glenn Gould
Wednesday, February 18 @ 6:45 pm
at the West Lafayette Public Library
98 min Unrated
This movie explores the life of famously eccentric pianist Glenn Gould through a series of 32 short vignettes. The vignettes parallel the structure of Bach’s “Goldberg Variations,” one of Gould’s signature recordings. The film mixes fictional recreations of Gould’s life with actual interviews from Gould’s friends and associates, and the soundtrack features Gould playing works by Bach, Beethoven, Strauss, Sibelius, and Schoenberg.
This Event is Free and Open to the Public.
WALLA & Friends Present:
Monday, February 9 at 6:45 p.m.
At the West Lafayett Public Library
94 minutes, PG-13
The year is 1965, and the residents of New Penzance, an island off the coast of New England, inhabit a community that seems untouched by some of the bad things going on in the rest of the world. Twelve-year-olds Sam and Suzy have fallen in love and decide to run away. But a violent storm is approaching the island, forcing a group of quirky adults (Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton) to mobilize a search party and find the youths before calamity strikes.
Inside Out Exhibit Comes to the Library
Local artists portraits now hang in the Library, a reprise of the Inside Out project sponsored by the Public Arts teams of West Lafayette and Lafayette and the Purdue Art & Design Senior Photography Class in the Spring of 2014. The show highlights local artists with photographs that show both "inside and outside" the Library's windows. The show continues through the Fall. Click here to read more: Inside Out
